Edith Stein (1891 - 1942) She was a German patriot and Jewess. A brilliant philosopher and teacher. She converted to Catholicism and became a Carmelite nun. She died in the concentration camp of Auschwitz. Her life tells us the deeply tragic history of 20th century Europe. |
